Wrap-around support, start to finish
Housing is the foundation. Everything else is built around it.

Transitional housing
A safe, stable place to live while residents stabilize, plan and move toward independence. To date we have supported more than 450 people off the streets and riverbeds of Bakersfield, and we work with 13 outreach partners to place people experiencing chronic homelessness.

Food security
Twice a month we provide food through our partnership with the CAPK food bank and our own in-house pantry. We also assist The Apple Core Project with its monthly food giveaways, and our senior tenants receive meals through North of the River Meals on Wheels.

Get Ready to Work
Our job-preparation program helps residents get ready for employment: the habits, documents, confidence and practical skills that an employer expects on day one.

The Rio Kids Club
Children living on site have their own club with activities, play and learning, so that kids have structure and fun while their parents focus on rebuilding.

Mentoring and learning
In collaboration with Garden Pathways, residents are matched with mentors who walk with them over time. Our lending library, created with Addison’s Library, keeps books within reach for every age.

Community outreach
Every quarter we host outreach events that connect people with public resources. We take part in the annual Point in Time Homeless Count, and we meet with Bakersfield City leaders and police to keep the needs of unhoused neighbors on the agenda.
Need Help or Know Someone Who Does?
Reach out. We will listen.
Referrals come through our outreach partners and directly from the community.
